{"id":1748,"date":"2022-07-29T14:55:43","date_gmt":"2022-07-29T12:55:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/?p=1748"},"modified":"2023-03-22T15:12:09","modified_gmt":"2023-03-22T14:12:09","slug":"class40-ibsa-with-the-details-and-accessories-phase-the-countdown-to-the-launch-officially-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/en\/class40-ibsa-with-the-details-and-accessories-phase-the-countdown-to-the-launch-officially-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"CLASS40 IBSA: with the details and accessories phase, the countdown to the launch officially begins"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The <strong>countdown to the technical launch has officially begun<\/strong>.\u00a0 In fact, there is less than a week to go before the moment when the IBSA Class40 enters the water for the first time; indeed, in recent days the \u201cdetail phase\u201d has begun, the <strong>finishing touches that equip the craft <\/strong>with all its accessories, thus giving it the appearance of a racing boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<div class=\"container-lazyload preview-lazyload container-youtube js-lazyload--not-loaded\"><a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0Ns5Y7mwtV0\" class=\"lazy-load-youtube preview-lazyload preview-youtube\" data-video-title=\"Class40 Construction - Stickage\" title=\"Play video &quot;Class40 Construction - Stickage&quot;\">https:\/\/youtu.be\/0Ns5Y7mwtV0<\/a><noscript>Video can&#8217;t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0Ns5Y7mwtV0\" title=\"Class40 Construction - Stickage\">Class40 Construction &#8211; Stickage (https:\/\/youtu.be\/0Ns5Y7mwtV0)<\/a><\/noscript><\/div>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>However, the definition \u201caccessories\u201d should not be misleading, as it has nothing to do with comfort.&nbsp; <strong>The fiberglass interiors of the new IBSA boat are in fact basic<\/strong>.&nbsp; And, as with all ocean racing boats, there is no wood panelling: although it would make navigation more comfortable, it would also weigh too much, and above all it would \u201chide\u201d the hull, which would not be easily accessible for repairs and checks.&nbsp; Apart from the structural bulkheads and four layered caissons for the buoyancy reserve \u2013 which effectively make the boat unsinkable \u2013 there are no other structures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Comfort is therefore not a priority: <strong>the \u201caccessories\u201d are therefore the technical elements<\/strong>, such as ballasts \u2013 750-liter tanks which, by letting the sea water in and out thanks to pumping systems, help counteract the heeling of the boat due to the wind and keep it straight for better efficiency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Winch<\/em> stations are built on the deck, and the equipment and electronics are assembled (equipment, on-board systems, electrical circuits, satellite systems, rudder-governing devices).&nbsp; The final phase includes the <em>deco<\/em>, i.e. the painting and positioning of the graphic elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point,<strong> the boat is ready to \u201ccome out into the open\u201d<\/strong>: at the shipyard, outside the shed where it was built and stored since last February, the <em>keel<\/em> is fitted, then masts and yards are installed.
