{"id":2895,"date":"2022-11-16T11:34:45","date_gmt":"2022-11-16T10:34:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/?p=2895"},"modified":"2022-12-21T11:32:04","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T10:32:04","slug":"day-16-november-2022","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/en\/day-16-november-2022\/","title":{"rendered":"16 NOVEMBER"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>By 9.30 this morning, the Ultim <em>Edmond de Rothschild<\/em> should cross the finish line of the <em>Route du Rhum<\/em>, concluding a complex regatta for the trimarans, but not as complex as the one the Class40s are experiencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Out of the disturbances for over 24 hours, yesterday the flotilla of the first seven Class40s \u2013 which also includes <em>IBSA<\/em> \u2013 faced the Azores Islands passage, and are now descending in search of the trade winds, which are still missing.&nbsp; There are also those who have chosen to stop for a check: a perhaps obligatory decision, in particular for the third Italian in the race, Andrea Fornaro, with his <em>Influence<\/em>, who had a seal problem with the keel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At dawn this morning, \u201cthe magnificent seven\u201d chose to go up \u2013 and <em>IBSA<\/em> really had to change tack \u2013 to look for a little more wind, because in front of them there is an area of \u200b\u200bcalm that could further slow down the race.&nbsp; After such a tiring week, a brief respite would seem due; instead, Alberto absolutely wants to run and not leave the leading group, by going to look for a little more wind.&nbsp; The trade wind: where is it hiding?&nbsp; The door seems to open a little further South, opposite the Canary Islands, and this tells us that we still need patience: at the moment Bona still needs to sail with a South-Westerly wind.&nbsp; Before engaging the trade winds from the east, it seems he will have to go through a calm area that \u201cdivides\u201d the two meteorological systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the 7 o\u2019clock check, the Class40 <em>IBSA <\/em>appeared solidly and firmly in seventh position.
