{"id":3884,"date":"2023-04-12T17:44:10","date_gmt":"2023-04-12T15:44:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/?p=3884"},"modified":"2023-04-12T17:44:52","modified_gmt":"2023-04-12T15:44:52","slug":"the-class40-ibsa-third-in-the-first-stage-of-the-defi-atlantique","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/en\/the-class40-ibsa-third-in-the-first-stage-of-the-defi-atlantique\/","title":{"rendered":"The Class40 IBSA third in the first stage of the D\u00e9fi Atlantique"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Alberto Bona, on board the Class40 <em>IBSA <\/em>together with Pablo Santurde del Arco and Pietro Luciani, <strong>crossed the finish line in Horta<\/strong> (Azores) at 22:48 (GMT +1) on Tuesday, April 11, concluding the first stage of the <em>D\u00e9fi Atlantique<\/em> in 10 days, 5 hours, 48 \u200b\u200bminutes and 1 second. <em>IBSA<\/em>\u2019s team ended the first part of the race <strong>in third position<\/strong>, behind the crews of <em>Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel<\/em> and <em>Alla Grande Pirelli, <\/em>led by Ian Lipinski and Ambrogio Beccaria, respectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cCongratulations to Ian and the <\/em>Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel<em> team for the stage win and to Ambrogio for his second place<\/em>\u201d, <strong>stated Alberto Bona<\/strong> upon arrival. \u201c<em>We concluded in third position a race that we animated from the very beginning and which we led for half the time. We knew it was going to be difficult, especially due to weather management. Now we need the \u201c4 Rs\u201d: rest, some repairs, mental reset and physical recovery. The Azores is a wonderful place, and it\u2019s good to be here. We have to focus on the strategy for the 1,300 miles still ahead of us: we must do everything we can and play it to the end during the second stage<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this first stage \u2013 where the Class40<em> IBSA<\/em> <strong>has always been in the leading group<\/strong> \u2013 a regatta within the regatta began immediately after the start: it was a match race between Alberto\u2019s team and that of his friend-rival Ambrogio Beccaria<em>. <\/em>\u201c<em>I\u2019m happy<\/em>\u201d, concluded Alberto. \u201c<em>We<\/em> <em>experienced many different conditions, we had the boat run in strong winds, the crew did their job very well: crossing in this direction is nice, very dynamic<\/em>\u201d.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br>After a four-day break, Bona and the team <strong>will set off again on April 16 to La Rochelle<\/strong> (France) for the second part of the regatta. The time to close the gap and return to the lead of the race will be 5 hours and 37 minutes.
