{"id":6948,"date":"2024-04-16T17:49:45","date_gmt":"2024-04-16T15:49:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/?p=6948"},"modified":"2024-04-16T17:49:48","modified_gmt":"2024-04-16T15:49:48","slug":"the-protagonists-of-the-transat-cic","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/en\/the-protagonists-of-the-transat-cic\/","title":{"rendered":"The protagonists of the Transat CIC"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><\/h1>\n\n\n\n<p>The stage is set for an epic battle in the Atlantic Ocean: with just 12 days to go, the <strong>38 skippers registered for the <em>Transat CIC<\/em> <em>2024<\/em><\/strong> \u2013 33 IMOCAs, 13 Class40s and two vintage boats \u2013 are getting ready for one of the world\u2019s most challenging and competitive regattas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>CLASS40<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The race promises to be fierce and exciting among the Class40s on the starting line. <strong>Alberto Bona on board <em>IBSA <\/em><\/strong>will compete \u2013 to name just a few \u2013 against:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Ambrogio Beccaria<\/strong> (<em>Alla Grande \u2013 Pirelli<\/em>) and <strong>Ian Lipinski<\/strong> (<em>Cr\u00e9dit Mutuel<\/em>), with whom Alberto engaged in numerous head-to-head matches last season<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Am\u00e9lie Grassi<\/strong> (<em>La Boulang\u00e8re Bio<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fabien Delahaye<\/strong> (<em>LEGALLAIS<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nicolas d\u2019Estais<\/strong> (<em>CAF\u00c9 JOYEUX<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Aur\u00e9lien Ducroz<\/strong> (<em>CROSSCALL<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Axel Tr\u00e9hin<\/strong> (<em>Project Rescue Ocean<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The spotlight will also be on <strong>Goulven Marie<\/strong> (<em>QWANZA<\/em>), at his first solo transatlantic race at the age of 47, and on the very young <strong>Thimot\u00e9 Polet<\/strong> (<em>Zeiss<\/em>) and <strong>Anatole Facon<\/strong> (<em>Good Morning Futur<\/em>), both 23 years old.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2024 edition of the <em>Transat CIC<\/em> will also mark the return to solo racing of <strong>Vincent Riou <\/strong>on board of <em>Groupe Pierreval \u2013 Fondation GoodPlanet<\/em>, after years of crew racing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>IMOCA CLASS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regatta promises to be of the highest level also within the IMOCA class where, among the registered skippers, are all those who stood out in last season\u2019s regattas. Among these:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Charlie Dallin<\/strong> (<em>MACIF Sant\u00e9 Pr\u00e9voyance<\/em>), winner of the <em>Rolex Fastnet Race<\/em><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Yoann Richomme<\/strong> (<em>Paprec Ark\u00e9a<\/em>), winner of <em>Retour \u00e0 la Base<\/em>,the regatta back from Martinique<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the Italian <strong>Giancarlo Pedote<\/strong> (<em>Prysmian Group<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The IMOCA category also sees the participation of five women:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Justine Mettraux <\/strong>(<em>Teamwork-Team Snef<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sam Davies<\/strong> (Initiatives-C\u0153ur)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Isabelle Joschke<\/strong> (<em>MACSF<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clarisse Cr\u00e9mer<\/strong> (<em>L&#8217;Occitane en Provence<\/em>)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Violette Dorange<\/strong>, just 22 years old (<em>DEVENIR<\/em>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>On the international front, there are ten foreign skippers, including the Swiss <strong>Oliver Heer<\/strong> (<em>Oliver Heer Ocean Racing<\/em>) and the English <strong>James Harayda<\/strong> (<em>Gentoo Sailing Team<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>VINTAGE CATEGORY<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following the example of the <em>Route du Rhum 2022<\/em>, also this edition of the <em>Transat CIC<\/em> welcomes the new \u201cVintage\u201d category, which will see <strong>Patrick Isoard<\/strong> \u2013 with an old 50-foot IMOCA designed in 1998 (<em>Uship pour Enfants du Mekong<\/em>) \u2013 challenge <strong>R\u00e9my G\u00e9rin<\/strong> aboard a 20-meter, 30-ton wooden boat (<em>Faiaoahe<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The regatta, the regulations and the sailors who will participate in this long-awaited ocean crossing have been officially announced, and very little time is left until the start of the <em>Transat CIC<\/em>: we just have to wait until the 28 to cheer on Alberto!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The stage is set for an epic battle in the Atlantic Ocean: with just 12 days to go, the 38 skippers registered for the Transat CIC 2024 \u2013 33 IMOCAs, 13 Class40s and two vintage boats \u2013 are getting ready for one of the world\u2019s most challenging and competitive regattas.
