The bow of the Class40 <em>IBSA <\/em>and the skipper\u2019s gaze are now turned even further North, towards Canada, from where <strong>the <em>Transat Qu\u00e9bec Saint-Malo<\/em> will depart, on June 30<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a crewed regatta, starting from Quebec City and finishing \u2013 <strong>2,897 nautical miles<\/strong> later \u2013 in Saint-Malo, the Breton town from which the <em>Route du Rhum<\/em> (the first regatta of the project <em>Sailing into the Future. Together<\/em>) had started.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This year, the race celebrates its <strong>40 years of history<\/strong>,and a <strong>record number of participants <\/strong>is expected, also considering the 20<sup>th<\/sup> anniversary of the Class40. In addition to the competition at sea, ten days of celebrations have been planned, upon both the departure in Quebec and the arrival in Saint-Malo, coinciding with two national holidays: the Canadian <em>Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day<\/em> (June 24) and <em>Bastille Day<\/em> (July 14).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <em>Transat Qu\u00e9bec Saint-Malo<\/em> is famous for bringing together<strong> sailing legends and new promises of ocean racing<\/strong>. At the starting line there will be:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the<strong> Class40s<\/strong>;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>the large multihulls<strong> MOD70, ORMA and Open multi<\/strong>, for which an extended route is planned, with a passage near Fastnet rock (Ireland);<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>two tribute classes<\/strong> dedicated to Canadian sailing legends Mike Birch and Gerry Roufs, with vintage multihulls and open mono-hulls from 45 to 70 feet.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201c<em>I have always heard of the <\/em>Quebec Saint-Malo<em> and I am excited at the idea of \u200b\u200btrying my hand at this new adventure<\/em>\u201d,commented <strong>Alberto<\/strong>.\u201c<em>Its peculiarity consists in being an ocean regatta beginning with a coastal leg, at the mouth of the <\/em><em>St. Lawrence River: it\u2019s like taking part in two regattas in one.
