{"id":4743,"date":"2023-07-21T19:29:00","date_gmt":"2023-07-21T17:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/?p=4743"},"modified":"2023-07-23T12:23:36","modified_gmt":"2023-07-23T10:23:36","slug":"july-21-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ibsasailing.com\/fr\/july-21-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"ROLEX FASTNET | DAY -1 |"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Gusts of wind up to 40 knots, waves up to two and a half meters near the Needles \u2013 the iconic white rocks representing the exit from the channel between the English coast and the Isle of Wight: this is the forecast 24 hours before the start of the legendary <em>Rolex Fastnet Race<\/em>, which celebrates its 50<sup>th<\/sup> edition with 465 boats at the start line.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among \u201cthe boats to beat\u201d \u2013 as stated by the RORC (<em>Royal Ocean Racing Club<\/em>) eloquent newsletter \u2013&nbsp; is Alberto Bona\u2019s Class40 <em>IBSA<\/em>, whose crew in this regatta will include Andrea Caracci, Luca Bertacchi and Francesca Clapcich, Olympian from Trieste who has just won the <em>Ocean Race<\/em>: \u201c<em>Having Francesca on board is very nice. We didn\u2019t know each other well before, but we already got along nice during the transfer: I\u2019m very happy, because we\u2019ll integrate well into this team, and it will also be a way to learn a lot; I know the boat well, she is very good with tactics, Andrea Caracci will be the navigator, which is his specialty, and our team leader Luca Bertacchi will know how to make himself indispensable<\/em>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The eve of the Fastnet for the <em>IBSA<\/em> team will reserve a long meeting \u2013 to analyse the weather \u2013 and a rest, to regain strength in view of tomorrow\u2019s event, which will be really tough, especially at the start: \u201c<em>These are precisely the conditions you don\u2019t wish for in a regatta. A long run upwind up to the Fastnet but, above all, in the first stretch, high and steep waves: the boat will bump a lot, and in that phase it won\u2019t be fun.
