The values of sport and inclusion triumph at the 1st IBSA Regatta
Promoting inclusion and accessibility in sport was the main objective of the 1st IBSA Regatta, that took place on 29 and 30 September 2023 in Antibes.
Organised by IBSA France in collaboration with the Société des Régates d’Antibes, the IBSA Regatta is part both of the international project Sailing into the Future. Together and of IBSA’s social responsibility initiatives. This two-day regatta was dedicated to disabled boys and girls aged between 12 and 17, who had the opportunity to compete aboard Hansa 303 boats.
There were 37 participants in total, of whom 23 with disabilities, for 18 crews from the following nautical clubs:
Testimonial of the event was Nathan Charon, young disabled sailor and third place at the 2023 European Championship in the under 25 category, who recently realised his dream of sailing with Alberto Bona, skipper and ambassador of the project Sailing into the Future. Together, thus showing that together it is possible to overcome any barrier.
We can’t wait to find out what the second edition of the IBSA Regatta – scheduled for next year – has in store for us.
