Twenty-two days to the Transat Jacques Vabre

06 October 2023

We are getting closer to the 30th edition of the Transat Jacques Vabre – Normandie Le Havre: on Tuesday, October 3, Alberto Bona attended the official presentation of the regatta, which will have at its starting line 190 sailors of 17 nationalities aboard 95 boats. The ceremony took place in Paris, at studio 104 of Maison de la Radio et de la Musique.

Many authorities from nautical institutions and the sailing community were present, including:

  • Édouard Philippe, mayor of Le Havre and president of Le Havre Seine Métropole;
  • Vincent Prolongeau, president of JDE France;
  • Aline Louisy-Louis, vice-president of the Normandy Region’s department for sport, youth and nautical affairs;
  • Bénédicte Di Geronimo, president of the Comité Martiniquais du Tourisme.

Naturally, all the skippers who will leave Le Havre on 29 October to travel the 4,600 miles to Martinique, in the Caribbean, on the “Route du Café” also attended the conference.

It’s the second Transat Jacques Vabre for Alberto Bona who will set sail from the port of Le Havre and will compete in team with Pablo Santurde Del Arco: “Attending this ceremony was very emotional and marked a transition for me”, commented Bona. “We are now entering the last days of preparation, which will be very intense. The Transat Jacques Vabre is the event to which we dedicated a year of work; during training, my bond with Pablo has constantly grown, and I have great faith in him; we enjoy a good team spirit and we can’t wait to cross the starting line”.
